What your screens are made of, and what they are for
In a state with this many insects and this much sun, the choice of mesh does real work.
A screen is a frame, a spline that grips the mesh into a channel, and the mesh itself. All three are consumable and all three are replaceable, which is why a torn screen is one of the cheapest repairs in the building.
The mesh choice matters more here than almost anywhere. Standard fibreglass keeps out mosquitoes and flies but not no-see-ums, which is why so many Florida homes need the finer mesh that does. Pet-resistant mesh is several times stronger than standard and is the only sensible option where dogs or cats push against a screen. Solar screen mesh is denser again and blocks a substantial share of solar heat before it reaches the glass, which on a west-facing room in this state is the cheapest cooling improvement available.
Then there is the screen enclosure question. A great many Florida homes have a pool cage or screened lanai as well as window screens, and those panels use the same principles at a much larger scale — larger frames, heavier spline, and mesh chosen for wind as much as insects.
If nothing at the store fits your openings, that is normal. Florida homes of a certain age are full of non-standard sizes, and building a screen to the opening you actually have costs very little more than buying one that nearly fits.
Nobody should be replacing a window over a screen
Screen mesh is a consumable. It is meant to be replaced, and replacing it costs a tiny fraction of anything else on a window. Frames can be squared up, corners rebuilt, and where a frame really is finished, a new one can be made to the exact size of your opening.
The reason it gets neglected is that screens feel trivial until they are not. A torn screen in Florida means mosquitoes indoors, a room you stop opening, and in a rental it means a complaint. The repair takes under an hour.
It is also the one repair where the upgrade is genuinely worth considering. If the mesh is coming out anyway, solar or no-see-um mesh costs marginally more and changes how the room feels.
Mesh wearing out is not a reason to replace anything but the mesh.

UV destroys mesh faster than anywhere
Sustained Florida sun makes fibreglass mesh brittle until it splits at a touch. On a south or west elevation, screening can reach the end of its usable life in a fraction of its rated span, and it will tear rather than stretch.
Insects that standard mesh does not stop
No-see-ums pass straight through ordinary screening, and much of the state has them seasonally. Homeowners frequently assume their screens are damaged when the mesh simply is not fine enough for what is getting in.
Salt and storm damage
Coastal air corrodes aluminium screen frames and the small fixings holding them, and storm season puts debris through mesh and bends frames. Screens are usually the first thing on a house to show wind damage.

Screen questions
Can you rescreen my existing frames?
Yes, and it is usually the best option. New mesh and spline in the frame you already have costs far less than new screens.
Bugs still get in even though my screens are fine.
They may well be fine. Standard fibreglass mesh does not stop no-see-ums, and the fix is finer mesh rather than a repair.
Nothing at the store fits my windows.
